Vaughn is serving as the construction manager-at-risk on the new Continuum of Care Campus, a psychiatric treatment facility jointly owned by Texas Health and Human Services and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Upon completion, the facility will be the largest mental health treatment facility in the nation and fill the needs for expanded and improved treatment in not only Houston and Harris County but the entire state of Texas. The facility consists of two patient room towers and a central plant. These patient areas were designed with community and a home-like environment in mind with single and double occupancy rooms, group therapy rooms, seclusion rooms, quiet rooms, day rooms, visitor rooms, a therapy mall, and protected outdoor spaces. In addition, the staff areas of the facility include offices, nurse stations, break rooms, a pharmacy, and teaching spaces. The entire facility was designed to maximize patient safety and the staff's efficiency and work flow. We are utilizing anti-ligature components in all of the patient areas such as the restroom fixtures and millwork to ensure the patients are in a safe and protected environment.
