Williamson County Opens Newly Expanded Regional Animal Shelter

Exactly 12 years after opening its doors for the first time, Williamson County celebrated the grand opening of the new Animal Shelter Expansion project in Georgetown, Texas. As the only shelter serving Round Rock, Cedar Park, Hutto, Leander, and Williamson County, the existing animal shelter could no longer support the needs and growth of Williamson County. Vaughn served as the construction manager-at-risk to construct the new, two-story building to serve as the new adoption center. The building features a public lobby, administration offices, dog kennels, cat cages, outdoor spaces, and related site work. We also renovated approximately 16,000 SF in the existing buildings to resolve the extensive HVAC, plumbing, and draining systems issues. To maintain continuous operation during construction, we built a temporary adoption facility in a nearby show barn. The facility was designed by Jackson & Ryan Architects.
