Union Pacific Locomotive No. 4141’s Final Stop

Vaughn had the opportunity to build a train pad for the historic Union Pacific No. 4141 engine’s permanent home at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum. The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents had recently donated two acres to the museum for its newest acquisition, No. 4141, named in honor of George H.W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. Trains played an important role throughout Bush Senior’s life, from childhood through the “whistle stops” involved in his presidential runs in 1988 and 1992. No. 4141 was last seen in College Station in December 2018, when it powered the funeral train that transported President Bush to his final resting place at the museum. The exhibit is expected to open in 2024 and will also feature a Marine One helicopter used by Bush while president. Learn more from Insite: Brazos Valley Magazine.
