Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen, Nursing Education & Research Building Tops Out

Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen recently celebrated the topping out milestone for the new three-story, 60,000 SF Nursing Education & Research Building, for which Vaughn serves as construction manager-at-risk. A portion of the new facility will be part of the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. The addition offers more opportunities for Rio Grande Valley students to remain in the area while earning their degrees.

“The topping out milestone signifies a major step forward in the timely completion of this project,” said a Vaughn superintendent. “We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our team and look forward to continuing our progress.”

To celebrate the achievement, the team enjoyed lunch and a presentation by Assistant Provost Dr. Sandra Hansmann. Dr. Hansmann outlined the university’s plans to graduate 50 nursing students per semester.

The project is slated to reach substantial completion in September 2025.
