Texas Health & Human Services Selects Vaughn for 50-Bed Maximum Security Facility

Texas Health and Human Services selected Vaughn Construction as the construction manager-at-risk for the new 50-bed Maximum Security Facility at the Rio Grande State Center Campus in Harlingen. The project will enhance mental healthcare services in the region by adding 50 inpatient beds within a secure environment.

The new facility will feature private patient rooms, shared support areas, administrative offices, diagnostic and treatment spaces, food services, laundry, and supply services. Additionally, the maximum-security unit will incorporate state-of-the-art therapeutic environments designed to promote patient recovery and well-being.

Robust security measures, including video surveillance, alarms, fencing, electronic monitoring, and increased staff presence, will be implemented to ensure the safety of all individuals on campus and within the surrounding community.

“We are committed to delivering a high-quality, secure, and therapeutic facility that will serve the needs of patients and the community,” said a Vaughn project manager. “We look forward to collaborating with Texas Health and Human Services to bring this important project to fruition."
