Texas Department of Criminal Justice, New Training Facility Celebrates Topping Out

140 representatives from Vaughn, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, HOK Architects, and trade partners celebrated the topping out of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, New Training Facility!

“It also signals the end of major structural trades and paves the way for  interior work,” said a Vaughn project engineer, “This is my first topping out event, and I am proud to see the project come together.”

The 45,000 SF criminal justice training facility, for which Vaughn Construction serves as construction manager-at-risk, will feature two mock holding cells, a large open physical training room with a perimeter catwalk, multiple classrooms, video rooms, and administrative space.

“This is an exciting milestone,” said a Vaughn assistant project manager. “I started working on this project over a year ago, and to see how far we have come in that time exemplifies everyone’s hard work and contribution to the project..”

The project includes two separate buildings for a six-lane, 50-yard firing range, and 80-occupant living barracks, providing a comprehensive training experience for Texas Department of Criminal Justice employees.
