UT Health San Antonio recently held a grand opening ceremony for its new Multispecialty and Research Hospital, for which Vaughn Construction served as construction manager-at-risk. The state-of-the-art, 448,000 SF facility is the only hospital in South Texas that offers patients access to cutting-edge therapies and previously unavailable expertise.
The new hospital is designed to deliver care for the most complex diseases. It will house a team of top specialists and researchers dedicated to pioneering new treatments, particularly cancer.
“The new hospital allows us to extend the exceptional outpatient care already offered by Mays Cancer Center and UT Health Physicians into the inpatient setting – delivering comprehensive, seamless care across the full spectrum of our patients’ needs,” said Jeff Flowers, MBA, FACHE, the hospital’s inaugural chief executive officer. “From the patient and family perspective, a major advantage is knowing [patients] will receive advanced care that is among the best in the country, right here in San Antonio.”
"We are excited to partner with UT Health San Antonio on this facility that will provide innovative care for complex diseases," said a Vaughn project manager. "This hospital will enable staff to deliver exceptional care and conduct groundbreaking research. Vaughn is proud to contribute to improving our communities through this facility."
