Austin Independent School District recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the Pecan Springs Elementary, a 77,000 SF, two-story project, for which Vaughn serves as construction manager-at-risk. Designed to accommodate 375 students, the new school will include a gymnasium, music studio, art studio, sensory motor lab, and library. Additionally, the project will feature two new playgrounds, outdoor learning areas, two detention areas, and a play field.
Principal Andrea Williams thanked the Campus Architectural Team (CAT) members, O’Connell Robertson, and Vaughn for their preconstruction efforts. She emphasized that the school’s design, inspired by nature and the comfort of home, incorporates elements representing the four seasons.
Superintendent Matias Segura highlighted the district’s commitment to creating modern learning environments that cater to diverse student needs. "This modernization is about creating new spaces that help every one of our students succeed, grow, and connect," Segura said. “We know that students, teachers, and families thrive when we invest in custom-built schools."
Pecan Springs students celebrated the groundbreaking with dance performances, holiday songs, and a poem titled “The Star Polisher.”
Vaughn is proud to be a part of this project, slated to reach substantial completion in 2026. We look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.
