Project Overview

We converted shell space on the entire sixth floor into a 36-bed patient unit featuring 34 private rooms with bathrooms, two isolation rooms with hand-wave technology for touchless entry and exit, a conference room, medication room, nurse break room, and nourishment room. Nine decentralized nursing stations are situated so one station can see at least four rooms at any given time. The patient rooms are built to universal bed standards for easy conversion to ICU rooms as needed.

Unique Challenge

The hospital was at capacity and needed additional patient rooms immediately. We met the schedule by working with the design team to review and process long-lead material and equipment submittals, expediting procurement, scheduling trade contractor work at night, leveraging our trade contractor relationships to get the best-skilled labor, and self-performing work to eliminate other delays. We also sequenced the work in a clockwise manner around the floor to allow stacking of trade activities.
