Project Overview

As the largest dental clinical facility built in the Dallas market, this building provides nine different clinical environments featuring 300 chairs and operatories ranging from general practice to prosthodontics and implant surgery. The building contains laboratories, classrooms, student spaces, offices, and a rooftop central utility plant and is attached to a new three-story, 250-space parking garage. The facility is dedicated to educating the next generation of medical students while providing oral health care to citizens who are less fortunate.

Unique Challenge

During preconstruction, we laser scanned the entire site and overlaid the scan with the design team’s Revit/CAD files. Our scan showed the Owner's existing parking garage, which was designated to be two inches away from the skin of the finished building, had a lateral and vertical skew of almost five inches. These discrepancies would have caused major construction issues. We adjusted the orientation of the new building to accommodate these conditions and provided information to the design team for their use, saving time and money on the project.
